I read the final pages this morning from 6am to 8:24am. I suppose the Bible should have been the first book I reached for-- but I knew I was almost finished with this book! I had no idea how much time had gone by when I was reading-- and that's what I love about reading a good book.
It follows 3 women in 1960's Jackson, Mississippi. A look into the lives of black women who work in the home of a white women... and also a look into the attitudes of the South during the beginning of the Civil Rights Era. Historical fiction, or non-fiction are my favorite things to read. Therefore, my imagination probably doesn't get the practice like it's supposed to-- but I'm more fascinated by what is real!
The movie comes out August 10th! Who's with me??
The Help movie websiteMy new goal is to read a book before it hits the New York Time's Bestseller list. How should I go about that?

sounds like a good read!!! have you heard of Toni Morrison? She's a pretty good author and writes along the same lines of black women and their lives and struggles in the south pre-civil rights. Her books have some pretty depressing moments in them though....
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've read her before-- mostly her poetry and it is a bit moody!
